The purpose of the Wound, Ostomy, and Incontinence Nurses' Society is to improve wound, ostomy, and incontinence nursing, to support nurses who care for individuals with wounds, ostomy, and incontinence problems, and to encourage their professional development.


Wound, Ostomy, and Incontinence Nurses' Society

For this purpose, WOINS carries out the following activities to work in fields such as nursing care, education, management, and legislation:

1. Provides support (scholarship, etc.) to nurses who want to specialize in wound, ostomy, and incontinence topics.

2. Organizes and coordinates certificate and in-service training programs.

3. Determines the principles of professional practice, and application standards to evaluate and develop ethical rules in the fields of activity.

4. Is involved in the establishment of wound, and stoma therapy units/centers.

5. Defends the right of individuals with wounds, ostomy, and incontinence to receive care, and organizes activities (education, counseling, public meetings, TV-Radio programs, etc.) for patients, their families, and the community to increase the quality of life, and participates in activities planned for this purpose.

6. Plans studies on the prevention and early diagnosis of colorectal cancers, and carries out activities for the care of chronic wounds and incontinence.

7. Makes arrangements and disseminates evidence-based publications (books, magazines, brochures, etc.).

8. Organizes activities such as congresses, conferences, seminars, and symposiums related to the aims of the association.

9. Plans and supports projects and research within its means, organizes competitions, and hands out awards.

10. Supports the establishment of a national registration system in matters falling within its field of activity.

11. Cooperates with relevant national and international institutions and organizations.

12. Takes initiatives to achieve a common goal with associations, foundations, unions, and similar non-governmental organizations operating for the same purpose.  Creates temporary platforms with similar names and takes place in such platforms.

13. Organizes events such as meetings, concerts, balls, theatre plays, exhibitions, sports events, excursions, etc. in order to develop and maintain human relations among its members.
